8th Grade Parent Orientation
All current 8th graders and their parents are invited to Jerome High School on March 23, 2010 to receive more information about their upcoming high school experience. A general meeting will begin at 7 pm in the auditorium. This will be followed by 5 mini sessions covering the different offerings at JHS. Parents are encouraged to attend this orientation to better help students make course decisions for 9th grade registration. Registration will take place on March 26, 2010 at JMS during 8th grade reading classes.

Idaho English Language Assessment
In compliance with federal regulations, Jerome School District is administering the spring 2010 Idaho English Language Assessment. The testing window is from February 22 to April 2, 2010. All English Language Learner (LEP) specifically identified for a language development program for whom LEP funding are used will be assessed. The IELA is designed to assess the proficiency level of Limited English Proficient (LEP) students in the five areas of reading, writing, listening, speaking, and comprehension. The primary purpose of this assessment is to provide Idaho educators with proficiency scores for use in their schools, districts, and state, as mandated by the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001. “Spirit of Idaho Award”
Senator Mike Crapo presented the “Spirit of Idaho Award” to the Tiger Health and Wellness Clinic Staff on February 19, 2010. The award was proudly accepted by the Jerome Middle School Gifted and Talented students, their teachers Mrs. Katie Cutler and Mrs. Sandy Nordquist, and their medical advisors Dr. David McClusky, M.D., and Jennifer Jones, R.N. The group also received a flag that had been flown over the US Capitol Building in their honor. The students presented a plaque to Senator Crapo embroidered with their logo and motto.
